Explanation of Responses:
(1) The reporting person elected to pay the exercise price of the options in
Common Shares (valued at fair market value as of the day of exercise)
pursuant to the "cashless exercise" provisions of the option award and
the LaSalle Re Holdings Limited 1996 Long-Term Incentive Plan.
(2) Of the 19,800 options exercised, 1/3 had vested on 11/27/96, 1/3 on
11/27/97 and 1/3 on 11/27/98. Of the 13,200 options not exercised, 1/2
will vest on 11/27/99 and 1/2 on 11/27/2000.
(3) Award of options governed by the LaSalle Re Holdings Limited 1996 Long-
