Explanation of Responses:
(1) Upon his resignation from employment with the issuer effective on
May 1, 1999, the reporting person forfeited 12,500 shares
of restricted stock and 50,000 options to acquire common shares that had
previously been awarded to him under the LaSalle Re Holdings Limited
1996 Long-Term Incentive Plan.
