On October 17, 2000, Commonwealth Bancorp, Inc. reported net income of
$4.0 million, or $0.37 per common share on a diluted basis, for the third
quarter of 2000, compared to net income of $4.4 million, or $0.36 per common
share on a diluted basis, for the third quarter of 1999. For additional

which is attached hereto as Exhibit 99 and is incorporated herein by
reference.
