        This Supplement to the Acacia National Variable Annuity Prospectus
dated August 26, 1996 informs you that the Van Eck prospectus, as contained in
that Prospectus, has been superseded and should be disregarded; and in lieu
thereof please refer to the attached Van Eck prospectus dated September 3,
1996.

        Additionally, the Strong Discovery Fund II is currently not available
for sale to California residents.
