        * 10,303,000 of the shares of Common Stock to which this schedule
          relates, (representing 30.9% of the shares of Common Stock
          outstanding) are owned by Polish Investments Holding L.P.
          ("PIHLP").  Chase Polish Enterprises, Inc. ("CPEI") is the sole
          general partner of PIHLP.  As general partner, CPEI manages
          PIHLP, which includes directing the voting and disposition of the
          shares of Common Stock owned by PIHLP.  Arnold L. Chase and the
          reporting person each own 50% of the outstanding capital stock of
          the reporting person and are its sole directors and executive
          officers.  As a result of their control over the management of
          PIHLP, CPEI, Arnold L. Chase and the reporting person may be
          deemed to share the power to direct the vote and disposition of
          the 10,303,000 shares of Common Stock owned by PIHLP.

          733,000 of the shares of Common Stock to which this schedule
          relates, (representing 2.2% of the shares of Common Stock
          oustanding) are owned by the Cheryl A. Chase Marital Trust, a
          trust of which the reporting person and Kenneth N. Musen are the
          joint trustees and the reporting person and her children are the
          beneficiaries.

          The reporting person does not have the power to vote or direct
          the vote or to dispose or direct the disposition of any other
          shares of Common Stock.

Item 5. Ownership of Five Percent or Less of a Class.

        If this statement is being filed to report the fact that as of the
        date hereof the reporting person has ceased to be the beneficial owner
        of more than five percent of the class of securities, check the

Item 6. Ownership of More Than Five Percent on Behalf of Another Person.

        As a result of the relationships described in the note to Item 4, (a)
        PIHLP, CPEI and Arnold L. Chase may be deemed to share the power to
        direct the receipt of dividends from, and the proceeds from the sale
        of, 10,303,000 of the shares of Common Stock beneficially owned by the
        reporting person and (b) Kenneth N. Musen and the Cheryl A. Chase
        Marital Trust may be deemed to share the power to direct the receipt
        of dividends from, and the proceeds from the sale of, 733,000 of the
        shares of Common Stock beneficially owned by the reporting person.
