TEMPLETON WORLD FUND
The discussion under "MANAGEMENT OF THE FUND - INVESTMENT MANAGER" is amended by
deleting the fifth paragraph and replacing it with the following text:
The lead portfolio manager of the Fund is Jeffrey A. Everett. Mr. Everett has
exercised portfolio management responsibilities for the Fund since 1993 and
became lead portfolio manager in 1996. He is executive vice president of the
Investment Manager. Mr. Everett holds a BS in finance from Pennsylvania State
University and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. He joined the Templeton
organization in 1989 and is responsible for managing several offshore accounts
at Templeton, as well as several Templeton Funds. Mr. Everett's global research
responsibilities encompass industry coverage for insurance, real estate,
broadcasting, publishing and media, and country responsibilities for Italy and
Australia. Prior to joining the Templeton organization, Mr. Everett was an
investment officer at First Pennsylvania Investment Research, a division of
First Pennsylvania Corporation, where he analyzed equity and convertible
securities. He also coordinated research for Centre Square Investment Group, the
pension management subsidiary of First Pennsylvania Corporation.
Mark G. Holowesko and Dorian B. Foyil exercise secondary portfolio management
responsibilities for the Fund. Mr. Holowesko, president of the Investment
Manager, holds a BA in economics from Holy Cross College and an MBA from Babson
College. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Chartered Investment
Counselor. Mr. Holowesko joined the Templeton organization in 1985 and is
responsible for coordinating equity research worldwide for the Investment
Manager and managing several Templeton Funds. Prior to joining the Templeton
organization, Mr. Holowesko worked for RoyWest Trust Corporation (Bahamas)
Limited as an investment analyst. His duties at RoyWest included managing trust
and individual accounts, as well as conducting research of worldwide equity
markets. Mr. Foyil, senior vice president of the Investment Manager, holds a BBA
in accounting and computer science from Temple University and an MBA in finance
from the Wharton School of Business. He is responsible for managing several
Templeton Funds and his research responsibilities include industry coverage for
technology, life insurance, aerospace and defense, as well as regional coverage
for Eastern Europe. Prior to joining the Templeton organization, Mr. Foyil was a
research analyst for four years with UBS Phillips & Drew in London, England.
