                     DuPont Expands Share Buyback Program



        WILMINGTON, Del., July 26 -- DuPont today announced that its Board of
Directors has authorized an expansion of its share buyback program to
$2.5 billion.  Repurchase under this program will begin early in the third
quarter.

        "It's a great time to reinvest in our company," said Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer Charles O. Holliday, Jr.  "This action is yet another
reflection of our commitment to enhance shareholder value."

        DuPont is a science company, delivering science-based solutions that
make a difference in people's lives in food and nutrition; health care;
apparel; home and construction; electronics; and transportation.  Founded in
1802, the company operates in 70 countries and has 94,000 employees.
