The second paragraph (first paragraph in the case of John Hancock Investment
Quality Bond Fund) appearing under the section "Investment Practices and
Restrictions" is restated for purposes of clarification as follows:
The Fund may invest in instruments having cash flows derived from the
alteration of the securities' natural, original structure. These
instruments include Collateralized Mortgage Obligations, Zero Coupon
Securities, Stripped Mortgage Backed Securities, Multi-Class Pass-
Through Securities and certain Asset-Backed Securities. The Fund will
limit its investment in Stripped Mortgage Backed Securities to 10% of
its total assets.
