Retirement Annuity Mutual Funds
The following information modifies the disclosure of the prospectus
for the Retirement Annuity Mutual Fund prospectus dated October 29,
1993.
Cover Page
The last paragraph in the first column has been changed to read
"You cannot invest in these funds directly. You can invest in
these Funds by buying a variable annuity contract from IDS Life
Insurance Company (IDS Life) or IDS Life Insurance Company of New
York (IDS Life of New York) and directing the allocation of part or
all of your net purchase payment to the corresponding Separate
Accounts or subaccounts. Please see your annuity prospectus for
further details regarding the available investment options. If you
would like to receive an annual report, please call (612) 671-2360.
As shareholders, the Separate Accounts will invest in shares of
Capital Resource Fund, International Fund, Aggressive Growth Fund,
Special Income Fund, Moneyshare Fund or Managed Fund (the Funds).
The subaccounts of the Symphony Annuity invest only in Capital
Resource Fund, Special Income Fund and Managed Fund."
For IDS Life International Equity Fund, the following is added to
the prospectus:
Portfolio Manager
Paul Hopkins joined Bankers Trust in 1986 as a European fund
manager. He joined IDS in 1992 and serves as chief investment
officer and executive vice president of IDS International, Inc. He
joined the portfolio management team of this fund on January 1,
1994. He also serves as portfolio manager of IDS International
Fund and IDS Strategy - Worldwide Growth Fund.
For IDS Life Managed Fund, the prospectus is changed as follows:
The "Investment Policies" section is modified to include the
following paragraph:
The fund also may invest in lower-rated bonds. These lower-rated
bonds (commonly known as "junk bonds") generally involve greater
volatility of price, and risk of principal and income, than
securities with higher ratings. They may also have speculative
characteristics. (See "Additional Investment Policies and Risk
Factors" below.)
Under the "Additional Investment Policies and Risk Factors"
section, the disclosure in the "Lower-rated Securities" section has
been modified to include the IDS Life Managed Fund.
