Supplement to Prospectus for Investor and Class R Shares
Dated April 10, 1995
The following information supersedes and replaces the first three
sentences of the third paragraph contained in the section in the Fund's
Prospectus entitled "Management of the Fund - Investment Manager":
The Fund is managed by Guy Scott. Mr. Scott is an officer of Mellon
Bank, N.A. Mr. Scott has been employed by The Dreyfus Corporation as
portfolio manager of the Fund since October 17, 1994.
