In a release dated April 25, 2000, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) announced first quarter 2000 net income of $325 million, or $0.19 per diluted common share, compared with $281 million, or $0.16 per diluted common share, in the year-earlier period. Earnings per diluted common share were $0.16, adjusted for a net after-tax gain of $44 million related to Compaq’s strategic investment portfolio. Worldwide revenue was $9.51 billion for the quarter ended March 31, 2000, an increase of 1 percent year over year. In constant currency, revenue increased 4 percent year over year.
