The following information modifies the disclosure of the prospectus
for IDS Life Variable Life Separate Account, the Flexible Premium
Variable Life Insurance Policy dated April 29, 1994
Subaccounts available for investment:
As of October 28, 1994, you may allocate policy value to a new
subaccount. A total of eight subaccounts are now available:
--Subaccount IL invests in shares of the International Equity
Portfolio.
Investment objective and policies of the portfolio:
IDS Life Series Fund, Inc. now consists of six portfolios. The
investment objective and policies of the new International Equity
Portfolio are as follows:
Objective: capital appreciation. Invests primarily in common
stock of foreign issuers and foreign securities convertible into
common stock. Other investments may include certain international
bonds if the portfolio manager believes they have greater potential
for capital appreciation than equities.
The following is added to the section entitled "Fund investment
management fee" on page 22:
The investment management fee equals, on an annual basis:
- --International Equity Portfolio - 0.95% of aggregate average daily
net assets.
Subaccount IL was established under Minnesota law and is included
in the IDS Life Variable Life Separate Account, a unit investment
trust registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940.
