On orders placed beginning November 1, 1996 and continuing through December 31,
1996, the Distributor will pay New England Securities a commission of 0.50% on
commissionable sales of Class A and B shares in addition to the commissions on
sales of Class A and B shares described in the prospectus under the section
captioned "Buying Fund Shares -- Sales Charges."
FOR NEW ENGLAND STAR WORLDWIDE FUND ONLY, THE FIRST SENTENCE IN THE PARAGRAPH
ENTITLED "CONTINGENT DEFERRED SALES CHARGE (CLASS A SHARES ONLY)" ON PAGE 18 OF
THE FUND'S PROSPECTUS IS DELETED AND REPLACED WITH THE FOLLOWING SENTENCE:
For purchases of $1,000,000 or more of Class A shares of the Fund or purchases
by Retirement Plans as defined above, a CDSC, at the rate of 1% of the lesser of
the purchase price or the net asset value at the time of redemption, applies to
redemptions of shares within one year after purchase.
