PRINCIPAL PRESERVATION PORTFOLIOS, INC.
SUPPLEMENT DATED OCTOBER 1, 1999
TO PROSPECTUS DATED MAY 1, 1999
PENDING PORTFOLIO MANAGER CHANGE FOR DIVIDEND ACHIEVERS, GOVERNMENT AND S&P 100
PLUS PORTFOLIOS
Effective October 1, 1999, Mr. Marc Dion, co-manager of the Dividend
Achievers and Government Portfolios, will be leaving Ziegler Asset Management,
Inc. (ZAMI). Mr. Dion will be replaced as co-manager of the two Portfolios by
Leon Dodge. Mr. Dodge will join Jay Ferrara on the Dividend Achievers Portfolio
and Thomas P. Sancomb and Thomas R. Paprocki on the Government Portfolio. In
addition, Mr. Dodge will serve as co-manager of the S&P 100 Plus Portfolio.
Presently, the sole manager of that Portfolio is Jay Ferrara. Mr. Dodge is a
Vice President and Portfolio Manager at ZAMI. Prior to joining ZAMI, Mr. Dodge
served as a Senior Research Analyst for GS2 Securities, Inc., a position he had
held since 1993. GS2 Securities was merged into B.C. Ziegler and Company
earlier this year. Mr. Dodge, who earned an MBA degree in finance from the
University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, has also served in various portfolio
manager capacities for both M&I Investment Management and First Wisconsin.
FIRST DATA CORP. TO SERVE AS TRANSFER AGENT
Principal Preservation has retained First Data Corp. to serve as transfer
agent to the Portfolios effective on or about November 8, 1999. B.C. Ziegler
and Company currently serves as transfer agent to the Portfolios. The pending
change was precipitated by B.C. Ziegler's decision earlier this year to
outsource the clearing agency function of the company to another firm. As a
result of the change, B.C. Ziegler and Company is no longer able to serve as
transfer agent to the Portfolios at a cost that would be favorable to the
Portfolios. The fees that Principal Preservation negotiated with First Data
Corp for its transfer agency services compare favorably with fees generally
charged for such services in the mutual fund industry.
