By Supplement to Prospectus ("sticker") dated April 15, 1996, Ameritas Variable
Life Insurance Company (AVLIC) amends its prospectus under the heading "AVLIC
and the Account Ameritas Variable Life Insurance Company," to disclose that
AVLIC has a rating of A ("Excellent") from A.M. Best, a firm that analyzes
insurance carriers; and to disclose that a previous supplement, dated April 1,
1996, is corrected to state that a change in reserving methods used for most
existing products resulted in an increase in statutory surplus of approximately
$23.4 million. The previous supplement is further corrected to state that AMAL
Corporation also guarantees the obligations of AVLIC and that if AML sells its
interest in AMAL Corporation to another insurance company who has a financial
rating by a National Rating Agency equal to or greater than that of AML, and the
purchaser assumes the guarantee, AML will be relieved of its obligations under
the Guarantee.
AVLIC further amends its prospectus under the heading "Executive Officers and
Directors of AVLIC" to remove Thomas D. Higley; to remove the "Director"
designation for the following officers: Norman M. Krivosha, James R. Haire,
JoAnn M. Martin; to add AMAL Corporation titles for Lawrence J. Arth, Kenneth C.
Louis, Norman M. Krivosha, Jon C. Headrick; to indicate changes in titles with
Ameritas Investment Corp. for Kenneth C. Louis, Norman M. Krivosha, Jon C.
Headrick; to change Wayne E. Brewster's title to Senior Vice President-Variable
