On behalf of Federated Income Securities Trust (the "Trust), I hereby
submit this application for withdrawal of Post-Effective Amendment No. 22
under the Securities Act of 1933, which was filed on April 21, 1995
pursuant to Rule 485(a) under the Securities Act of 1933 (the "Act"), to
the Trust's Registration Statement on Form N-1A.
The Rule 485(a) filing was made in order to add a new class of shares
called Schwab Shares to Intermediate Income Fund (the "Fund"), one of the
Trust's portfolios. For business reasons, it has been decided that the
Fund will not offer Schwab Shares. The Trust intends to file an Amendment
to its Registration Statement pursuant to Rule 485(b) of the Act by
June 30, 1995 in order to update financial and other information. Please
issue an order with respect to this application for withdrawal at the
earliest date the Staff deems appropriate.
Pursuant to the requirements of Rule 473 of the Act, this application
for withdrawal of the Amendment has been signed by the Secretary and Agent
for Service of the Trust this 16th day of June, 1995.
