INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE. Spartan International Index Fund seeks to
provide investment results that correspond to the total return of
foreign stock markets.

PRINCIPAL INVESTMENT STRATEGIES. Bankers Trust Company (BT)'s
principal investment strategies include:

(small solid bullet) Investing at least 80% of assets in common stocks
included in the Morgan Stanley Capital International Europe,
Australasia, Far East (MSCI EAFE) Index , which represents the
performance of foreign stock markets.

ratio, price/book ratio, earnings growth, country weightings, and the

A Effective November 5, 1997, FMR has voluntarily agreed to reimburse
the fund to the extent that total operating expenses (with the
exceptions noted below) exceed __% of the fund's average net assets.
Expenses eligible for reimbursement do not include interest, taxes,
brokerage commissions and other transaction costs or extraordinary

Fund Management

Fidelity Management & Research Company (FMR) is the fund's manager.

As the manager, FMR is responsible for handling the fund's business
affairs.

Bankers Trust Company (BT) serves as sub-adviser and custodian for the
fund. BT chooses the fund's investments and places orders to buy, sell
and lend the fund's investments.

Buying Shares

The fund's shares are sold without a sales charge, but with a 0.75%
purchase fee.
