The Equity Series seeks long-term growth of capital and income
consistent with reasonable risk. The Income Series seeks high current income
consistent with reasonable risk. Reasonable risk means volatility approximating
the Morgan Stanley World Index, in the case of the Equity Series and the J.P.
Morgan Global Government Bond Index, in the case of the Income Series.
The foreign currency hedging techniques referred to under "Investment
Objectives and Policies" may be characterized as derivatives.
