Supplement to Statement of Additional Information dated December 31, 1993
A.  Please insert the following as the last sentence to the final paragraph 
under the section entitled "Performance Comparisons" on page 12:
     "In addition, advertisements and sales literature for the Fund may 
     include charts and other                        illustrations that 
     depict the hypothetical growth of a tax-free investment as compared to a 
     taxable                    investment."
B.  Please insert the following  paragraph at the end of the  section entitled 
"Performance Comparisons" on page 12:
    "Advertisements and sales literature for the Fund may include quotations 
    from financial publications and other sources relating to current 
    economic conditions in the municipal bond market or to the benefit and 
    popularity of municipal bonds or mutual funds."
