                            MFS WORLDWIDE FIXED INCOME FUND
                          SUPPLEMENT TO THE CURRENT PROSPECTUS

Effective August 1, 1995, the minimum initial investment per investor for shares
of the Fund will generally be $3 million.

The following information supplements the disclosure found under the section
"Information Concerning Shares of Funds" on p. 9 of the Prospectus.

Exchanges

Subject to the requirements set forth below, some or all of the shares in an
account with the Fund for which payment has been received by the Fund (i.e., an
established account) may be exchanged for shares of MFS Emerging Markets Fixed
Income Fund or MFS Emerging Equities Fund, each a series of the Trust (if
available for sale) at net asset value. Exchanges will be made only after
instructions in writing or by telephone (an "Exchange Request") are received for
an established account by the Shareholder Servicing Agent in proper form (see
"Redemptions" below). If an Exchange Request is being used to open a new account
with a Fund, the exchange must involve shares having an aggregate value of at
least $3 million. If the Exchange Request is received by the Shareholder
Servicing Agent on any business day prior to the close of regular trading on the
Exchange, the exchange usually will occur on that day if all the requirements
set forth above have been complied with at that time. For federal and
(generally) state income tax purposes, an exchange is treated as a sale of the
shares exchanged and, therefore, an exchange could result in a gain or loss to
non-tax-exempt shareholders making the exchange. The exchange privilege (or any
aspect of it) may be changed or discontinued upon sixty days prior written
notice to shareholders.
