Supplement to the Prospectus dated June 3, 1996
The following Portfolios are not available for investment in
connection with the Anchor Adviser Variable Annuity Contract:
The Balanced/Phoenix Investment Counsel Portfolio
The Growth/Phoenix Investment Counsel Portfolio
The Provident Growth Portfolio
The fifth full paragraph on page 35 of the Prospectus under
the subheading entitled "Portfolio Management" has been replaced
by the following paragraph:
Peter R. Anderson and Scott B. Schermerhorn serve
as co-portfolio managers of the Federated Value
Portfolio. Mr. Anderson joined Federated Investors in
1972 as, and is presently, a Senior Vice President of
Federated Advisers. Mr. Anderson is a Chartered
Financial Analyst. Mr. Schermerhorn joined Federated
Investors in 1996 as a Vice President of Federated
Advisers. From 1990 through 1996, Mr. Schermerhorn was
a Senior Vice President and Senior Investment Officer
at J. W. Seligman & Co., Inc.
