The  name  of the  insurance  company  issuer  of the  variable  life  insurance
contracts  offered  by the  Prospectus,  Northwestern  National  Life  Insurance
Company, has been changed to ReliaStar Life Insurance Company,  effective August
1,  1996.  ReliaStar  Life  Insurance  Company  remains a  direct,  wholly-owned
subsidiary of ReliaStar Financial Corp.
