Item 5. Other Events
Effective June 1, 1998, Yap Chee Keong resigned his position as a member of the
Board of Directors of American Mobile Satellite Corporation (the "Company"), in
connection with his resignation from Singapore Telecommunications, Ltd., the
beneficial owner of approximately 16% of the Company's Common Stock.
The Board of Directors has not appointed a new director to the vacancy, which
vacancy shall continue until filled by a vote of the Board of Directors or the
stockholders.
