The Company anticipates that it will incur a net loss for 1997 of approximately
$16.6 million to $17.0 million compared with a loss of $6.7 million in 1996.
This increased loss is due to: (i) a 38% reduction in revenues, primarily due to
working capital restraints throughout the year and heavy returns in the printed
book publishing operations, (ii) the write-off of inventories and production
masters costs in respect of discontinued Dove Kids and Dove Video operations,
(iii) the write-off of inventories in connection with the reduction of printed
book publishing and theatrical film distribution operations, (iv) cancellation
of a number of proposed new audio book titles, (v) the write-down of excess
inventories and (vi) employee separation costs reported in the second quarter of
1997.
