                      THE NORTH CAROLINA TAX FREE BOND FUND
                                   SUPPLEMENT



         The Prospectus and Statement of Additional Information, dated December
31, 1997, of The North Carolina Tax Free Bond Fund (the "Fund") is hereby
amended to reflect the following new information:

         1.       Advisor.  The shareholders of the Fund have approved the
